American Library Association (ALA) is a non-profit library association based in the United States that promotes leadership, promotion, development and improvement of library and information services and Profession of librarianship in order to enhance learning and ensure access to information for all. It’s founded on 6th October 1876 and its headquarter in Chicago, Illinois, United States. American Library Association code is the cataloguing Rules for author and title entries which was published in 1949 by the American library association and are based on the American edition of Anglo-American code published in 1908. So it can be said as the second edition of American edition (catalogue rules, author and title entries) of Anglo-American code.
